‘War’ the word that makes each and everyone in the world shiver with fear. Conflicts between humans began from the early period in which life originated on Earth and continued through same intensity through all the centuries and has now reached 21st century. Still we are not ready to forbid this dangerous disaster. The famous wordings of ‘Mother Teresa’ should be mentioned here “If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other” This is a reality. The world has no boundaries, we are all one. ‘UNITY IN DIVERSITY’ should be our slogan. But we are not ready to solve our problems peacefully. Just after one conflict, without a second thought, we go for wars.
Nothing has influenced the history of mankind as much as wars have. Religious issues, extending the boundaries of countries, political issues, issues of succession etc have paved way to wars. Wars are disasters to all humans. Wherever the war occurs, it never helps the people, but increases their sufferings. The cost of a war is very huge that, even centuries cannot rub away the dark shadows of its aftereffects. Wars were originated about 3500 years ago. The stories and pain caused by wars arises grief and nothingness in our mind rather than enthusiasm and interest.
Among all the wars that the history witnessed, the Second World War was the most terrifying one. World War II was a global war, involving most of the world’s nations, who were divided into opposing military alliances-the Allies and the Axis. It was the most widespread war in the history, also the deadliest, with over 70 million people killed, the majority of whom were civilians. In 1945, the war ended in a victory for the Allies. As a result of World War II, the United Nations was formed on October 24, 1945 with the hope of preventing another world conflict.
On august 6, 1945, the United States used a massive atomic weapon against Hiroshima, Japan. This atomic bomb was called ‘little boy’ and it destroyed and flattened the city, killing 10000s of civilians. 3 days later, the United States struck again, this time, on Nagasaki. The bomb was called ‘fat man’ and it destroyed 40% of the city. At last Japan surrendered. These are the red pages in the history of ‘wars’, written in the blood of the poor victims. All this was done only in the name of victory. But the huge destruction that was caused could never be replaced. The people in ‘Hiroshima’ and ‘Nagasaki’ haven’t recovered completely yet. This is only one among the examples of wars that alerted the minds of all humans on Earth.
The independence was India’s ultimate goal during our struggle against the British, who were first visitors and then conquerors. The freedom which we enjoy today is as a result of the sacrifices suffered by our nationalist leaders and citizens; should we ever forget about it? No not at all! The Indian history and constitution are the reminiscences of our struggle for freedom; but still we are living in terror of terrorists; the wild fire which swallows every thing.
Wars are not at all helpful in anyways and in the controversy, it affects our future and fortunes harmfully; it is a threat for humanity; it shatters dreams, families, relations and peace. It destroys everything, which can never be regained. The cost of a war is the life of innocent people which cannot be recaptured. So, before preparing to conquer everything under our feet, we should be aware about the aftereffects of the very action. Where one gains victory, another has to taste the bitter hopelessness and tragedy, which is common in the nature; our victory shouldn’t hurt others and for that wars should be overthrown. Innocent lives should not be crusaded in the name of victory and failure. No more tears should be fallen at the cost of lives of our dear ones; bloodshed should not be flowed and wars should not be witnessed again; let the diary of ‘Anne Frank’ and ‘Sadoku’ birds bring the thought of peace, a mind which is generous to forgive guiltiness, let the thought of common brotherhood shine splendidly above all of us and protect us from the arms of wars and terrorism; no more wars, no more tears, no more shattered dreams, let these words reverberate through our minds.
